Green-to-Clean: Swamp to Swim-Ready in Days

Pool gone swamp? It happens — a missed month, a broken pump, a long vacation, a rental between tenants. We bring green pools back to swim-ready, usually in 3 to 7 days, and we give you an honest timeline before we start.

Our recovery pairs aggressive shock treatment with repeated brushing, vacuuming to waste, and a real filter teardown — so dead algae actually leaves the water instead of clouding it for weeks. We'll even tell you the rare case where a drain-and-clean is the cheaper path.

Why Pools Turn Green So Fast Here

In Central Texas heat, a pool can go from clear to green in a single weekend once chlorine hits zero. The usual triggers: a pump that quietly failed, a stretch of 100°F days that burned through sanitizer, or simply a missed few weeks. Algae doubles every few hours once it takes hold — which is why fast, aggressive treatment beats slow dabbling.

We wrote a full breakdown of the local causes on our blog: why Hill Country pools turn green so fast.

Don't Drain It Yet

A green pool almost never needs draining — and draining a pool in the wrong conditions can crack plaster or pop the shell out of the ground. Our chemical recovery clears the vast majority of green pools without ever lowering the water. We only recommend a drain when the water is genuinely beyond treatment, and we'll show you why.

Good Questions

Green-to-Clean FAQs

How long does it take to clean a green pool?
Most green pools recover in 3 to 7 days depending on how severe the algae is and the condition of the filter. We give you an honest timeline after a quick look — a light green pool can be swim-ready faster, a black-green swamp takes longer.
Do you have to drain my pool?
Almost never. Our Green-to-Clean process clears most pools chemically without draining. Draining is a last resort and can damage plaster or the shell — we'll only suggest it if the water is truly beyond treatment, and we'll explain why.
Why is my pool green again after I shocked it?
Usually the filter is full of dead algae and recirculating it, the chlorine didn't hold long enough, or there's a phosphate/stabilizer issue. We do a proper filter teardown and rebalance so it actually stays clear.
Can you keep it clean after the rescue?
Yes — and that's the smart move. Most green-pool customers move onto our weekly service so it never happens again. Recovery gets you swim-ready; weekly keeps you there.
